With a focus on community, Jack A. Marantz founded BOS in Springfield, Illinois in 1965. Today, the tradition continues under the leadership of Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Tom Marantz.
From our roots as a neighborhood bank on Springfield’s southeast side, BOS has grown to a community bank with over $850 million in assets. Our first expansion outside Springfield was to Jacksonville, Illinois in 2000. We now have 12 locations throughout Illinois. You can find us in Springfield, Jacksonville, Chatham, Quincy, Swansea, Shiloh, Glen Carbon and Staunton. As we continue to expand operations, you have our promise to remain privately held and responsive to your needs.

BOS is committed to utilizing its resources to make a positive impact on the communities we serve. Major sponsorships have included support of the Illinois State Museum, University of Illinois at Springfield, and the Caddyshack Open Golf Tournament. In 2004, the Jack A. Marantz Memorial Scholarship Fund was established at the University of Illinois at Springfield to help underwrite scholarships for student athletes who are members of the Prairie Stars men’s varsity basketball team. Our employees continually dedicate their time volunteering for local organizations including food, clothing and toy drives; blood drives; and numerous charity events.
BOS also has a brightly colored, child-friendly mascot, “BOS Dog” (pronounced Boss Dog) who attends many fundraisers and family events throughout central Illinois.
