How to Turn Your Debit Card Off and On

By BankSource on 11/10/2025

It’s not uncommon for someone to misplace their debit card. We get it – things happen. Life moves quick and it’s important you know how to turn your card off if you misplace it, or if it’s stolen, to prevent unauthorized transactions on your account.

Turning Your Debit Card Off and On

Turning your debit card off is a security feature that allows you to temporarily disable your card to prevent unauthorized purchases. This is a great tool that lets you instantly disable access to your lost card without needing to call the bank. If you find your card, simply turn it back on and your card will be ready to use again.

Other great reasons to turn you card off:

  • Put spending on hold
  • Not actively using your card
  • Traveling
