Money Lessons with BOS Dog

By BankSource on 4/7/2026

At BOS, we believe it’s never too early to learn how to save money. Learning to save money can be tons of fun and is a great habit to start when you are young. With a little help from BOS Dog, kids can learn how to save money in a way that feels like a game, not a chore.

What is Saving?

Saving means putting money away so that you can use it later.

For example, rather than buying one piece of candy right away, if you save your money, you could buy two pieces of candy or maybe even something special like a new toy or game.

BOS Dog tip: Don’t eat all your treats at once, save some for later!

Make a Savings Goal

Saving is easier when you have a goal in mind. Ask yourself: What is something that I really want someday?

It could be a new toy, a special trip, or even something big like saving for your future. Every goal takes time, and that’s okay, even small savings can turn into something big!

Start Small, Dream Big

You don’t need a lot of money to start saving, what matters most is getting started. At BOS, we are here to help build smart money habits, along with a little help and encouragement from BOS Dog.

Once you reach your first savings goal, make sure to celebrate your hard work and be proud of yourself.

Watch your Savings Grow

Saving money is a lot more fun when you can see it grow.

Put your savings in a clear jar or piggy bank to keep track of your money. Every time you add to it, you’ll watch it grow more and more!

BOS Dog tip: Every coin is a step closer to your savings goal!

Practice Every Day

Saving money is a habit, just like brushing your teeth or cleaning your room.

You can start your savings by:
  • Saving your allowance
  • Putting aside birthday or holiday money
  • Adding spare change

Little by little your savings will add up, all you need is a little patience and practice.
